Huawei globally announced the Y9 Prime 2019 smartphone in the month of May and released it in June 2019.  Since debut, the product has been trending on the tech scene and people are also pre-ordering from Africa. The Y9 Prime smartphone is the first smartphone from Huawei that comes with a pop up AI-enabled selfie camera, which rises just like the OPPO series smartphones.

What to expect in the pack

When you unbox it, you will get the cell phone (with in-built 4000mAh battery), charger, USB Type-C cable, a jelly-like transparent casing, a SIM ejector, quick start guide, headset, and screen protective guard.

Display

The Y9 Prime 2019 smartphone screen size is 6.59 inches HD+ and comes with a display resolution of 2340 x 1080. The height of the phone is 163.5 mm and weight is about 196.8g (including the non-removable 4000mAh battery). It feels good to hold on one palm and the design is made from a reflective polycarbonate material that resembles glass. You can comfortably toggle with one hand and easily access it (even if you have small hands). The display is wide enough to enjoy videos and play games.

Looking at the front of the phone, you will see a notch on top, housing an AI-enabled 16mp f1.8 aperture megapixel camera that comes with an 8 mp ultra-wide and a 2mp camera for depth sensing. This entails that the camera would be able to recognize 22 categories and over 500 scenes in real-time, as well as analyze the scenes intelligently to take a clear shot. Beside it is the classy 16mp auto pop-up selfie camera which makes the phone famous, speaker outlet and a tiny notification LED.

Flipping over to the top rear, you will find a 16 mp camera that comes with f2.0 aperture and 2mp camera for depth sensing. Right underneath the camera is the flash. Going further central is where the fingerprint scanner is located. The Huawei signature is imprinted on the left part of the base while the certification lies directly opposite.

To the left edge, there is a hybrid SIM card that can house either dual Nano SIMS or a Nano-SIM and a card reader. There is a power button and volume rocker keys on the other side. You would find a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Type-C USB port, microphone, and speaker at the base. The phone comes in sapphire blue midnight black and emerald green variants.

Features

The Y9 Prime has a Hisilicon Kirin 710F octa-core processor and Android 9 Operating System.  The processor enhances the running speed and lowers the rate of power consumption. Like every other smartphone, it comes with a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS setting. The storage capacity is 64gb and additional 4gb RAM.
