Doctoorum, a medical tourism online marketplace based in Egypt has secured undisclosed pre-series funding. The funding was secured from the Numu Capital’s a seed fund that invests in promising MENA tech startups based in Dubai. Doctoorum will leverage the funds to scale growth locally and expand internationally.

Founded by Yemeni entrepreneur Begad Nasser, Doctoorum allows patients from around the world to compare and book affordable treatments from trusted providers in Egypt. The startup is a graduate of the 2019 AUC Venture Lab accelerator.

Numu Capital helps startups in the MENA region by increasing their traction and securing their next funding round. It is notable for funding successful applicants within 30 days of initial pitch.

Jamal Al-Mutarreb, Managing Director of Numu Capital said, “Doctoorum is a very promising venture, and Begad has a solid understanding of the industry and has built a top-notch team that we believe in. We have been eyeing the medical tourism industry for a while, and we were thrilled when Begad pitched Doctoorum to us”.

Doctoorum intends to secure a Series A round in the next few months. The startup plans to expand its operations beyond Egypt and the MENA to destinations such as Turkey, India, Germany, and Thailand. It will also tap into the medical tourism market which is expected to worth $180 billion by 2026.
