MTN has launched 5G network connectivity in Nigeria. This launch was followed by a live demo the telco launched in Abuja, Nigeria.

It should be recalled that MTN announced its plans to launch the network earlier in July. The telco also launched a similar demo in South Africa. The demo in South Africa revealed the network attained a speed of 20 Gigabytes per second with less than 5 minutes latency.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed plans to deploy 5G Network in the country early, this live demonstration in Abuja puts the telco a step ahead of the NCC.

The new 5G connectivity will come with so many benefits like;

  • swifter internet connectivity,
  • A capacity 1000 times higher than the 4G. With 5G,
  • the ability to connect more devices than the 4G Network, and
  • a latency 10 times lower than the 4G.

According to Ferdi Moolman, CEO of MTN Nigeria, “5G will make our life better, drive incremental capacity and open up new businesses. MTN as a company is constantly making efforts to break barriers by democratizing voice and data connectivity to improve subscriber experience, and has invested over N800 billion in infrastructure in Nigeria.”

Subscribers has raised eyebrows over the 5G Network and its effect on data consumption. MTN has revealed that it is committed to providing quality data at affordable prices to subscribers.
