Lime, has revealed plans to launch its first electric micro-mobility scooters in Capetown, South Africa. The scooters will be launched in the first quarter of 2020. Lime is a transport company based in the US.

Founded in 2017, Lime aims to provide a smart and affordable micro-mobility transport system for urban communities through scooters and transit vehicles.

Lime will operate a new model where it will deploy its first set of scooters to private-owned areas in CapeTown. This model is unlike Lime’s model in Europe and the US where scooters are placed on walkways.

The Head of Operation and Strategy Lime Wayne Ting expressed his uttermost satisfaction about the proposed launch. He noted that it will enable the company to scale tech advancement and innovation in Africa.
The electric scooters will also enhance movement in South Africa and reduce the emission of carbon into the atmosphere.

Lime is, however, not the only company that offers micro-mobility service in Africa. Companies like Baddel, El Gouna, and Smoove also offer the same service.

In addition to its expansion in CapeTown, the company has also scheduled a quick deployment of its scooters to Middle East Countries like UAE, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
