The Africa Development Bank and Microsoft have joined forces to launch a new digital skill training platform dubbed coding4employment. This is in a bid to provide digital skills that will enable the African youth to gain meaningful employment.

The platform was launched at the just concluded African Economic Conference held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The Africa Development Bank has been the sole champion of various innovations and grants in Africa. In recent times, the bank has released over $5 billion to scale various sectors in Africa.

The partnership with Microsoft is an addition to the various aid provided by the bank. It is also in tandem with its mission to create 25 million jobs and provide 50 million African youth with competitive skills by 2025.

On the other hand, the partnership for Microsoft is an act of commitment to drive a knowledge-based economy in Africa.

The new code4employment platform will promote a continuous learning culture among African youth and help to build their intellectual capacity to shapen the continent’s future.

The Acting Director, Human Capital, Youth & Skills Development, Hendrina Doroba has applauded the launch of the platform. She noted that the platform was developed to address the gap in skill acquisition for the African youth. It will also help to address issues of unemployment in the continent.

The code4employment platform has various free courses on web development and design, data science & analytics, code writing, and Dev-Ops. It also offers training on the use of Microsoft word, excels, video and team working platforms, etc. These courses will enable the youth to compete in a fast-moving environment.

The platform will collaborate with the public and private sectors globally to deliver demand-driven, agile and collaborative skills to the youth. It will also empower young people to become innovative players in the digital economy.

The coding for employment training platform can be accessed across 54 Africa Countries.
