Drum roll! Jiji, an African classifieds company has secured $21 million Series C funding. The digital marketplace plans to leverage this to expand across 5 African countries. It will also boost the overall performance on its site.
Have you heard? Jumia has exited another African country. The Africa-based e-commerce platform did not only exit the Rwandan market but also partnered with Travelstart to run Jumia Travel.
Next on the Big 5, Korea Telecom, Safaricom Kenya and the Kenyan Ministry of Health has launched a USSD solution ‘Safiri Smart’. The solution will be used to stop and regulate epidemic breakouts.
Also, the International Data Corporation recently released a connected consumer spending guide for the Middle East and Africa. It forecasts that technology spending in the region to reach $149 billion by 2023.
Finally, TechWomen 2020 has called on women to submit for its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) training. The program scales its applicant’s professional capacity and also expands girls’ interest in STEM.
