Vuba Vuba Takes over Food Delivery after Jumia Exited Rwanda

Vuba Vuba Africa, a new on-demand food delivery platform has launched shortly after Jumia exited Rwanda. Jumia recently shut down its food delivery operations in Tanzania, Cameroon, and Rwanda. It is now focusing on e-commerce, payment and infrastructure network in other to boost business revenue. Jumia intends to focus on major markets to reach bigger margins and make its model more sustainable.

Albert Munyabugingo, the former MD of Jumia Food now runs Vuba Vuba Africa. The company began operations on the 1st of January 2020. Albert employed a team of staff from Jumia Food and retained approximately 80% of Jumia’s riders in Kigali.

Another existing competitor, SafeMotos also announced a shutdown of operations in Rwanda due to financial issues. Vuba Vuba will now be the only on-demand food delivery service provider in the country.

Vuva Vuva Africa has partnered with major restaurants and supermarkets in Kigali. It receives food and groceries from residents and delivers to homes and offices. Its food hailing business app is also available for download on both Google Play and Apple App Stores. The app will enable small business owners, hotels, and supermarkets effectively transact and increase sales.
