South African leading telecommunications giant, Paratus, with an aim to provide satellite connectivity-focused service for Africa, by Africans, recently entered into a partnership with Star Solutions, a mobile network infrastructure company, to supply its Sonata EPC core network platform for deployment in Namibia.
The Sonata EPC platform enables 4G connections and is being used around the world on a commercial and personal scale.
It also provides the benefits of full visibility of the network functionality, which surpasses previously released versions of EPC. While pilot sites have been set up, it is expected that EPC will be fully commissioned by mid-November 2020 with Paratus leveraging on the improved scalability and increased capacity from the equipment to further expand their network.
Paratus operations cut across six African countries- Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zambia, while also providing satellite connectivity in over 22 African countries through the several reseller networks across the continent.
