Signal and Telegram messaging apps are already seeing a rapid rise in demand after WhatsApp sparked outrage on social media following its updated terms.
WhatsApp laid out new terms, asking users to agree to allow Facebook and its subsidiaries to collect user data, including their phone number and location.
The popularity of Signal shot up further after Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey endorsed it.
Over 100 000 users have downloaded Signal in the last few days, while Telegram has gained almost 2.2 million downloads.
