For the Africa Blockchain Campus Hackathon 2021, applications have been announced by the Africa Blockchain Institute.
The Campus Blockchain Hackathon aims to offer early exposure to the career and business opportunities offered by Blockchain/DLT Digital Technologies to students from higher institutions in Africa.
The Hackathon builds an organized and sustainable community that, by providing and democratising access to information, resources and mentorship, nurtures and empowers developers.
Students from higher education academic institutions across Africa are expected to develop Free TON blockchain apps that will bring value to both the continent and the Free TON network.
Free TON is a group within the Open Source (OS) project developed by the creators of the Telegram Open Network (TON).
To manage decentralized applications, TON OS is designed as a decentralized operating system.
The Hackathon is also scheduled to involve academics with anything and everything they need to know about blockchain technology.
The Hackathon will take place at the African Leadership University, Kigali-Rwanda, from February 1, 2021 to April 8, 2021, with the grand final being hosted.
For the finals, regional winners get an all-expense paid trip to Kigali in Rwanda. Winners, with other support, will also get to go home with monetary prizes.
