MFS Africa and Afrimoney are teaming up to bring mobile money remittance services to Sierra Leone

MFS Africa, a pan-African cross-border payments startup, has teamed with Afrimoney to make it easier and more affordable for Sierra Leone’s mobile money customers to receive payments from overseas.

In 2017, less than one in every five Sierra Leoneans had a bank account, making mobile money a viable alternative to traditional banking.

Dare Okoudjou, CEO and founder of MFS Africa, stated of the agreement, “Bringing more individuals into the financial system is crucial to support growth in Sierra Leone.” With this partnership, we are eager to build new financial pathways to market Africell provides a compelling and simple method for Sierra Leoneans and enterprises to access financial services.”

“Remittances are an essential source of economic value for Sierra Leone, and we are thrilled to be partnering with MFS Africa to make them easier and more cheap for customers,” said Andy Widmann, group director of Afrimoney.

MFS Africa aspires to improve the next generation digital client experience and solidify its position as one of the continent’s most innovative fintechs by simplifying the remittance process.

Customers of mobile money transfer operators connected to the MFS Africa hub, such as MoneyGram, World Remit, and Xoom, can now send money to mobile wallets in Sierra Leone with ease.
