Following their selection by the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (Hiil), the four startups that will be admitted to the coveted HiiL Justice Accelerator have been announced by the institute.

They are among 18 organizations from around the world that will receive EUR 10,000 in funding and business development assistance.

The HiiL Justice Accelerator program in Southern Africa is made possible by a grant from the Dutch Postcode Lottery.

HiiL launched its annual global Innovating Justice Challenge in March of this year in pursuit of the region’s top justice-related social entrepreneurs. More than 200 submissions were received from startups with high-impact justice innovations, which was a record number for the organization.

Following a rigorous selection process that included a week of intensive ‘Bootcamp workshops for six regional finalists, they were invited to present their work to an international audience of justice experts, which included the Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr. John Jeffery, and the Netherlands Ambassador to South Africa, Mr. Han Peters. The pitching session was attended by the Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr. John Jeffery, and the Ambassador of the Netherlands to South Africa, Mr. Han Peters.

“After weeks of selection, we’ve come up with a remarkable cohort of justice innovators who are solving some of the country’s most difficult justice problems,” says Adam Oxford, Head of the HiiL Innovation Hub Southern Africa. Every single one of them demonstrated that they have a powerful, highly scalable solution, and we look forward to working with them over the next few months to help them accomplish and exceed their objectives.”

The following are the final four innovators to join Hiil’s global accelerator, funding program:
