The startup Saja launched back in May of this year. The startup will release its solar-powered carts first to Lagos.

This solution will provide micro-entrepreneurs the chance to develop their businesses.

Their innovative carts saw extraordinary traction when displayed at the NYSC Orientation Camp and at the RCCG Redemption camp.

Seyi Fakoya, the co-founder of Saja, said, “I have rarely used their service as I have various sources to charge my phones. It dawned on me that there are millions of people that don’t have what I have, and I thought if there was a way of providing this service in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way, we could be onto something big.”

Fakoya said he drew major inspiration to create solar-powered carts after he passed by a vendor selling airtime on the side of the road while charging people’s mobile phones using a generator.

Saja is structured very similarly as they use a mobile push card generator that is powered by solar energy to provide the exact same service.

The services included by Saja do not only include just charging people’s phones, but also providing agent banking services, point of sale, merchandise, and other services of value.

The startup is hoping to spread further across Nigeria within the next two years. This is their goal before they reach out further to other countries.

So, how does Saja raise its money? The startup makes its money through transaction fees, customer acquisition fees, direct service fees, as well as advertising on its cart.

Fakoya and team are currently in the process of developing more forms of earning revenue as their business builds up.
