Workpay, a Kenyan HR payroll startup, received $2.7 million in pre-Series A funding to expand its services across Africa.
Launch Africa, Saviu Ventures, Acadian Ventures, Proparco, Fondation Botnar, Kara Ventures, Axian, P1 Ventures, and Norrsken participated in the funding round.
Workpay was founded in 2019 by Jackson Kungu, COO, and Paul Kimani, CEO.
Workpay provides its clients with the tools they need to file taxes, pay salaries in local currencies across all of Africa, and administer employee benefits.
Employers may track and manage employees’ leave days, time, and attendance using its capabilities.
“Being a full-stack HR Payroll company, we assist employees in managing and paying their staff members. And our software helps firms stay compliant while processing payrolls, said Kimani.
“Since 2021, we have been growing our sales every year, and we are currently getting close to 700 consumers. Also, we handle a total salary value for our customers of roughly $200 million each year, Kimani continued.
To complement its existing human resources (HR) and payroll platform, Workpay is introducing a suite of financial services for both employers and employees.
These services include access to employees’ earned wages in the event of an emergency as well as links to investment accounts, medical and asset insurance, and reimbursement for out-of-pocket medical expenses.
