Rekindle Learning, a leading South African digital learning company, has acquired Cape Town-based edtech startup EpiTek to create Rekindle EpiTek, a comprehensive corporate training platform tailored for the African workforce.
The acquisition combines Rekindle Learning’s performance-driven learning tools with EpiTek’s white-labeled online education platforms, resulting in a unified system that offers microlearning, live classrooms, AI-proctored assessments, and analytics. This integrated approach aims to address the continent’s evolving workforce training needs, particularly as organizations transition to Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) accreditation.
Rekindle EpiTek’s platform provides accredited and non-accredited skills development providers with the tools to deliver, track, and measure learning outcomes. Features include preloaded course libraries, real-time analytics, and automated certification, all within a scalable, compliant infrastructure.
CEO Sally Nhlanhla emphasized that the merger redefines skills development across Africa, offering organizations a comprehensive solution from microlearning to formal certification. EpiTek CEO Matthew Scott added that the combined entity positions Rekindle as a high-impact African tech company capable of meeting the continent’s training and skills development needs at scale.
This merger marks a significant step in the African edtech sector, demonstrating the potential of homegrown solutions to address regional challenges. Rekindle EpiTek aims to set a new benchmark in how companies scale skills development across the continent.
