Egyptian health-technology startup Rology has closed a growth funding round backed by major global healthcare organisations, with capital set to accelerate expansion of its AI-powered teleradiology platform across the Middle East and Africa (MEA), multiple industry sources reported.
The financing round drew participation from international healthcare investors and impact partners including the Philips Foundation, Johnson & Johnson Impact Ventures, the Sanofi Global Health Unit’s Impact Fund, and MIT Solve Innovation Future, signalling strong global confidence in Rology’s mission and technology.
Founded in 2017, Rology operates a cloud-based, AI-assisted teleradiology marketplace that connects hospitals and imaging facilities with radiologists and AI support tools. The platform covers 12 radiology subspecialities and eight imaging modalities, enabling diagnostic reporting in as little as 30 minutes with zero setup costs, the company said in disclosures.
Rology’s system has been deployed in more than 13 countries, delivering over 1.3 million radiology reports for more than 300 hospitals and supported by a network of more than 200 radiologists, according to funding materials. The technology is also cleared under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s 510(k) process and claims a clinical accuracy rate of 99.89 per cent with potential cost savings of up to 25 per cent for diagnostic reporting.
The startup’s leadership said the new funding will be used to deepen its presence in key markets such as Saudi Arabia, strengthen operations in Kenya and other African nations, and broaden access to advanced diagnostic tools across underserved and low- and middle-income settings. Rology’s expansion plans build on its 2023 acquisition of Saudi teleradiology provider Arkan United and recent regional growth initiatives.
Healthcare investors involved in the round highlighted the urgency of addressing radiologist shortages and rising imaging demand in emerging markets. Backers said Rology’s hybrid model combining human expertise with AI-enabled workflows offers a scalable solution that can improve diagnostic turnaround times and widen access to quality care.
Industry analysts say the funding round reflects broader interest in AI-driven healthtech applications as global healthcare systems seek innovative ways to enhance capacity and patient outcomes, particularly in regions where specialist resources are limited.
