American IT and networking company Cisco celebrated the establishment of 200 Networking Academies (NetAcad) in Nigeria. The celebration was held at NetCad Demo and roundtable session at Federal Science and Technical College, Yaba, Lagos on the 22nd of June 2019.
The demo session availed NetAcad students the opportunity to demonstrate their training. The demos showcased include; Smart IoT solutions system, the assembling of a computer by Queens and Kings College students Lagos, Nigeria, and a robotics demo by NetAcad students TrepsLab.
Cisco announced its partnership with Global Citizen to power the movement to end extreme poverty, during the roundtable session. Cisco plans to play a vital role in the project through funding and technology. They intend to be a fore player in the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development and ending extreme poverty by 2030.

According to Olakunle Oloruntimehin, the General Manager of Cisco Nigeria, they are excited to partner with Global Citizen. He said they will leverage the partnership to equip advocates and activists all over the world with modern skills and tools needed to support the project.
Cisco Networking Academy was founded in 1998. It is a comprehensive e-learning program that aims to transform lives with digital skills training to prepare students for careers. The NetAcad is available in 180 countries with about 10,400 academies. The academy has impacted the lives of 9.2 million students.
