Google for Startups Accelerator Africa has selected 10 African tech Startups to participate in its 8th cohort.

The Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program has provided support to 106 Startups from 17 African countries since its inception in 2018.

The 10 selected startups will participate in a structured program that is intended to facilitate their development. This year’s cohort was chosen from nearly 1,000 applications.

Five of the Startups that have been selected are from Nigeria, including;

CDIAL, which is revolutionizing multilingual communication through the application of artificial and collective intelligence; Earthbound, which offers cost-effective, dependable energy solutions that are supported by carbon accounting and development financing;

MyAIFactchecker, an AI-powered tool that combats misinformation;

NextCounsel, an AI-powered tool for contract management, solicitor engagement, and compliance; and

Rana Energy is a data-driven ecosystem that offers sustainable, dependable energy solutions to SMEs and communities.

Three Startups, representing Kenya, are:

Nakili is an application that is mobile-based and designed to facilitate the management of salons, barbershops, and spas;

Nobuk, a platform that streamlines financial management for organizations and collectives by collecting funds, reconciling payments, and generating reports; and

Triply, is a platform that facilitates the interconnection of travel businesses with powerful management tools and travelers with seamless booking experiences.

The additional two ventures that have been selected are as follows:

Fixxr, a company in South Africa, offers transparent and convenient on-location vehicle maintenance and repair services to enterprises and car owners.

Rwanda’s Lifesten Health provides health and wellness services through innovative screening and incentive-based programs that emphasize nutritional, mental, and physical well-being.

“We are thrilled to welcome the eighth cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program. These startups represent the future of African innovation, harnessing the power of technology to solve real-world problems and uplift their communities. We are committed to supporting these founders by providing them with the resources and mentorship they need to succeed and scale their solutions,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, head of startup programs for Google in Africa.

The selected startups will have the opportunity to participate in technical seminars, refine their products, refine their business strategies, and enhance their leadership skills.

Additionally, they will have direct access to the expertise of Google mentors and seasoned entrepreneurs.

Also, the program will equip them with the necessary skills to obtain additional funding from Google’s extensive network of investors.
