The fourth edition of the eight-month OceanHub Africa accelerator is now accepting applications.
This program will support up to 12 of Africa’s most promising impact-driven for-profit companies that are dedicated to protecting and restoring the health of the ocean.
When it comes to mitigating the effects of global warming and the overexploitation and pollution of the oceans, the OceanHub Africa accelerator is on a mission to help ocean-minded entrepreneurs in the hopes of fostering an environmentally conscious and viable economy.
Selected businesses will also receive over US$40,000 in mechanical engineering design software licenses for prototyping and virtual testing, provided by partner 3DExperience Lab, up to US$75,000 in cloud service from AWS Activate, and access to a network of influential ocean experts, mentors, impact investors, and potential clients.
Accelerated startups will have access to an online curriculum developed with the help of the organization’s expert network of stakeholders and facilitators, which will explore long-term strategies for generating steady returns on investment (ROI) and opportunities for scalable growth across Africa.
The selected startups will be given the opportunity to attend a series of networking events and conferences, as well as a booth and speaking slot at the annual Ocean Innovation Africa summit, as well as engage in a series of intensive in-person training boot camps.
To qualify, the company must be ocean-focused, for-profit, and offer a scalable service or product that is currently (or will soon be) on the market.
A potential funding amount of up to $10,000 will also be available, along with assistance with deal structuring, investor pitch preparation, and investor pitch execution. As a part of its ecosystems, OceanHub provides access to a wide portfolio of impact investors.
The deadline for applications is May 14.
