Kaltura announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Israel-based start-up eSelf.ai for approximately US$27 million, in a move to expand its enterprise video platform into immersive interactive agent experiences.

Founded in 2023 by Dr Alan Bekker and Eylon Shoshan, eSelf.ai develops photorealistic, multilingual conversational avatars that support more than 30 languages and integrate voice, vision and screen-understanding capabilities. Bekker previously co-founded Voca.ai, acquired by Snap Inc., where he led conversational AI activities.

Under the transaction terms, Kaltura will pay US$7.5 million in cash at closing, up to US$12.5 million more in cash over three years contingent on performance milestones, and will issue approximately 4.69 million shares of its common stock vesting over three years to the eSelf.ai founders and key personnel.

Kaltura said the acquisition aligns with its strategy of evolving from an enterprise video experience platform into a broader “AI Video Experience Cloud” that incorporates immersive, agent-based interactions. The company plans to integrate eSelf.ai’s avatar technology into its existing “Genies” product family (Class, Work, CX, TV), allowing avatars to listen, speak and interpret user screens in real time.

Ron Yekutiel, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Kaltura, commented that the acquisition provides “best-in-class” real-time conversational technology and offers upsell opportunities across its enterprise customer base. He described the deal as “very strategic” for the company’s next evolution.

Analysts noted that Kaltura’s stock rose strongly following the announcement, reflecting investor enthusiasm for the shift toward AI-infused video and virtual agent technologies.

The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.
