Moroccan super-app startup Ora Technologies has acquired Casablanca-based last-mile delivery platform Cathedis for an undisclosed sum. This strategic move aims to integrate logistics into Ora’s existing digital services, enhancing its e-commerce and fintech offerings.
Founded in 2023 by Omar Alami, Ora Technologies has rapidly developed a multi-service platform encompassing peer-to-peer payments, e-commerce, on-demand services, chat, and social networking. Its food delivery service, Kooul, has attracted over 15,000 active users in the past 10 months, while its mobile wallet, Ora Cash, has signed up more than 50,000 accounts in five months.
The acquisition of Cathedis, a company known for its digitized urban delivery solutions, allows Ora to bring last-mile delivery operations in-house. This integration is expected to streamline the user experience by combining digital payments and physical delivery into a single platform, thereby enhancing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
In 2025, Ora Technologies secured $1.9 million in pre-Series A funding in March, followed by a $7.5 million Series A round in July. These funds have been earmarked for expanding logistics capabilities and strengthening digital payment infrastructure. The acquisition of Cathedis aligns with Ora’s strategy to control the entire value chain, from digital payments through Ora Cash to physical delivery via Kooul and Cathedis.
This acquisition underscores the growing convergence of e-commerce, logistics, and fintech in Morocco’s digital economy. By integrating Cathedis’ logistics capabilities, Ora positions itself to capture a larger share of the country’s fast-growing online retail market, where cash-on-delivery remains the dominant payment method. The move also signals consolidation in Morocco’s startup ecosystem, where platforms are racing to scale and capture network effects.
With over $9 million raised in 2025, Ora Technologies has the financial backing to push its super-app ambitions. Success will depend on effective execution in logistics and payments, areas where entrenched players like Jumia and global fintechs are also competing for market share.
As Ora Technologies continues to expand its integrated digital platform, the acquisition of Cathedis marks a significant step in its mission to become a dominant player in Morocco’s digital services landscape.
