Sendy, an on-demand delivery service startup based in Kenya has secured $2 million to expand its services across East Africa.
The startup, which was founded in 2014 intends to boost its services across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Sendy is also looking to expand its services outside of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Sendy leverages technology to haul products, equipment, and other items from one point to another. It’s technology grants users access to monitor the driver in real-time and also manages numerous deliveries on the platform. It offers delivery services via van, truck, and motorbike.

Joel Wanhoji, the senior investment Manager of Goodwell East Africa team said, “Sendy’s platform is enabling savings of more than 20% on the logistics costs, which makes Sendy a good fit within Goodwell’s uMunthu mandate of providing basic goods and services to people on low and middle incomes – the majority.”
Sendy on inception began with 27 drivers and made 12,000 deliveries. The company has since grown to a capacity of about 700 drivers with a delivery of over 180,000. The startup recorded a revenue of $ 1.5 million in 2018.
