Elmenus, an Egyptian food discovery and ordering platform, reported an investment in the company from David Buttress, former CEO of  Just Eat.

Established in 2011 by CEO Amir Allam, through its AI-powered food recommendation engine, elmenus is a food discovery and online food delivery platform with personalized recommendations to users at the dish stage.

The business has expanded steadily, introducing online ordering activities and recently starting its own fleet operation after raising US$8 million Series B funding round in 2020.

The growth of the startup accelerated in 2020 as delivery increased significantly in view of the difficulties of COVID-19 and more restaurants outsourced their delivery operations, the business is projected to expand 10 times in 2021 as it increases its offerings of goods and restaurants. It is an exciting time in the evolution of the business.

As we aspire to become the go-to food app for all dining choices and a preferred choice for restaurants to help them overcome their scaling hurdles in the MENA region, I believe the insights and outstanding record of David will play a vital role in accelerating our growth and guiding Elmenus to gain a significant market share. We are very excited to be working with such a veteran of the industry as David. His trust in our vision is our great testament,’ said Allam.
