The UK-Nigeria Tech Hub and Decagon Digital, Nigeria’s engineering training institute, have announced their Developer Placement Program pilot phase.
The two plan to recruit and pair short-listed small and medium-sized enterprises with 100 vetted software engineers to help small and medium-sized enterprises build web apps while they gain experience.
All software engineers planning to apply for the program must have graduated from Nigeria’s recognized software engineering institute. In order for SMEs to be eligible to apply for the program, they must have a projector product with a social impact that allows developers to either scale up or enhance existing functionality. They must also have on their production team a senior engineer.
Honey Ogundeyi, UK-Nigeria Tech Hub Country Owner, says the Developer Placement Program is an opportunity to boost the growth of the tech ecosystem in Nigeria, foster innovation and improve the digital economy of Nigeria.
Decagon Institute founder and CEO, Chika Nwobi, noted that the program is an exciting opportunity for software engineers in Nigeria to build up the value chain.
The deadline for submissions for the three-month programme for both developers and SMEs is 15 January 2021.
