Applications for the O-Farms accelerator program, which focuses on circular agribusiness with the goal of making circularity a mainstream solution for improved rural livelihoods and sustainability, have been extended to Kenyan agritech start-ups.
O-Farms is led by Bopinc and Village Capital and is focused on driving the next generation of innovative circular agribusinesses in Kenya and Ethiopia. It is funded by the IKEA Foundation.
Agri-circularity promotes a more sustainable food system by developing innovative business models that reduce agricultural losses, resulting in new economic opportunities and jobs for the community.
The program will be implemented in Kenya by E4Impact Accelerator, with 12 agritech businesses selected for the initial cohort.
Selected entrepreneurs will have access to a customized agri-circularity business training curriculum, as well as technical help, coaching & mentorship, networking, and peer learning.
Two start-ups will be chosen by their peers at the end of the program to win seed funds of up to EUR50,000 (US$58,000).
