Olusegun Ogunsanya has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa, a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services in Nigeria and 13 other countries.
This comes after the current Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Raghunath Mandava, gave the telecoms firm’s Board notice of his retirement.

By focusing on network modernisation, delivery, and operational efficiency, he has demonstrated significant drive and energy in turning around the Nigerian market. This dedication, along with his industry experience, strategic vision, constant customer focus, and proven track record of execution, will allow him to continue to deliver our strategic objectives and lead the Group into the next stages of its development,” said Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Airtel.
On October 1, Ogunsanya will take over as CEO and join the Airtel Africa board of directors.
In 2012, Ogunsanya joined the company as the MD and CEO of Nigeria, the operator’s largest African sector.

Ogunsanya has over 25 years of business management experience in the banking, consumer products, and telecommunications industries.
Prior to joining Airtel Africa, Ogunsanya holding senior management positions at Coca-Cola in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya. He was the MD of Coca-Cola Hellenic’s Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd and the group head of retail banking operations at Ecobank Transnational Inc., where he supervised 28 African countries.
He is a chartered accountant as well as an electronics engineer.
