Facebook is introducing a new section of its app dubbed Neighborhoods that will connect neighbors and curate local news.

Facebook users can build a separate subprofile on Neighborhoods and fill it with interests and a custom bio.

You can complain about porch pirates, kids these days, or something else you’d be doing on Nextdoor by joining your own lower-case neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods.

The new feature Neighborhoods, is currently available in Canada and will be available for testing in the United States soon.

Facebook recognizes Nextdoor’s extreme moderation issues and announces that a team of moderators will be assigned to each community to review comments to posts and keep the conversation “appropriate and pleasant.”

As it sounds, deputy users can monitor and encourage conversations in neighborhoods, as well as do light moderation. Facebook’s latest corner would also have blocking options.

Neighborhoods is not a standalone app, but it does share your neighborly activity in order to serve you targeted advertisements wherever.
