Facebook is testing a video speed dating app called Sparked, According to The Verge.
Unlike popular dating apps like Tinder, Sparked users do not swipe on people they like or send direct messages.
Instead, they make connections with others by cycling through a series of brief video dates during an event.
The NPE Team, Facebook’s internal R&D department, is working on the product, but it hasn’t been officially announced yet.
According to a spokesperson for Facebook’s NPE Team, “Sparked is an early experiment by New Product Experimentation.” “We’re looking at how video-first speed dating will help people in finding love online.”
Following Facebook Dating, which is part of the main Facebook app, this is the company’s second attempt into online dating. According to the report, the app debuted in the United States in 2019 and has since expanded to other countries such as the United Kingdom.
According to the report, Facebook Dating works similarly to other dating apps in that it allows users to view other people’s public profiles, like them if they want, and then contact them if they both match.
According to the report, Sparked is planning to put the experience to the test at a Chicago Date Night event on Wednesday.
