Following the seven-day cap, WhatsApp is now testing and developing a Disappearing Message feature for personal and group chats with a 24-hour option.

The disappearing message feature, according to reports, will be available in a future update.

“WhatsApp will not replace the 7-day option, but it will be an improvement,” according to the report.

Previously, Disappearing Messages could only be managed by WhatsApp admin. It recently released an iOS update that allows all members of a group to adjust the default setting for Disappearing Messages.

WhatsApp is also testing with bringing the disappearing photos functionality to both Android and iOS.

People can only send disappearing messages to people they trust, according to WhatsApp. Someone might, for example, forward or capture a screenshot of a disappearing message and save it until it vanishes.

For much longer, rival platforms like Telegram and Signal have provided similar features.
