WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature that will allow users to send WhatsApp messages without having to use their phone.

WhatsApp is currently tied to a user’s phone.

What happens on the phone is virtually mirrored on WhatsApp Web and other non-smartphone apps.

That device must be connected and receiving WhatsApp messages in order for its desktop and web apps to work.

Users will be able to send and receive messages even if the phone battery is dead with the new feature.

WhatsApp states that up to four different devices, such as PCs and tablets, can be utilized simultaneously.

WhatsApp already allows you to use it on many devices. A user can use a web browser or a desktop app on their computer to access the service at the same time.

However, in order to use the multidevice support flow, the phone must be linked to the internet.

WhatsApp has created new technologies that allow communications to sync across various devices while maintaining end-to-end encryption.

WhatsApp does not have a set date for when this feature will be available to all users. WhatsApp aims to introduce it as an opt-in beta feature for a select number of users on stable versions of the app in the coming months.

The new feature will first be released as a beta test for a limited set of users,  with the team hoping to improve performance and add features before making it available to everyone.
