OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot platform, ChatGPT, now has a new subscription plan.
To further explore potential commercial uses for its AI technology, OpenAI has introduced a new $200/month membership plan for ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot platform. This plan is aimed squarely at the engineering and academic communities.
OpenAI’s current ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise subscriptions will be supplemented by the new tier, known as ChatGPT Pro. It highlights the company’s goals to expand the commercialization of its technology, which was the catalyst for the AI boom.
According to the business, ChatGPT Pro will give users unrestricted access to the most cutting-edge OpenAI technologies, such as its new reasoning model o1, o1 small, GPT-4o, and sophisticated voice. O1 Pro Mode, a variant that leverages more processing power to tackle more complicated queries, is also included in the subscription.
According to OpenAI, the o1 pro mode outperforms the o1 and o1-preview versions on machine learning benchmarks in math, science, and coding.
Jason Wei, a member of OpenAI’s technical staff, stated, “We think the audience for ChatGPT Pro will be the power users of ChatGPT — those who are already pushing the models to the limits of their capabilities on tasks like math, programming, and writing.”
Soon, O1 will also be accessible through OpenAI’s API, bringing with it new features like picture analysis and function calling (i.e., the possibility to use external tools). Web browsing, file uploads, and other features will be added in the upcoming months, according to OpenAI.
