The Artificial Intelligence for Development in Africa (AI4D Africa) program and Villgro Africa have launched a call for innovative startups that use artificial intelligence (AI) to help Africa grow.

The AI4D Africa program is a collaboration between the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada to support technologies, policy research, and skills development in Africa in order to promote responsible AI development.

It has partnered with Villgro Africa, an organization that invests in and supports sustainable social and market-based innovations across Africa, to launch a call for applications aimed at uncovering African-led AI innovations that will be critical in catalyzing the emerging ecosystem toward responsible development of the technology while strengthening the capacity of African innovators in terms of scaling.

Selected AI entrepreneurs will participate in an innovation bootcamp to help them create innovative and economically viable services and products.

Startups of wellness, agriculture, climate action, and finance-related technologies will apply for incubation and up to $10,000 in grant funding.

Interested applicants can apply here.

Applications deadline is April 9th.
