Netflix has appointed, Ebi Atawodi as Director of Payments, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Atawodi, who revealed this via her LinkedIn profile, she stated that she didn’t expect her Uber experience to affect other lives.

She also described her six years at Uber as a “lifetime ride.”

She wrote, “I learned the power of tenacity in Uber, launching and scaling Uber.

Mort-also, Atawodi said she was humbled by the power of payments, unlocking the magic of Uber for millions of customers worldwide.

However, It was a life-long journey that eventually came to an end.

I am proud and so grateful to everyone who rode with me on this rollercoaster, Atawodi disclosed.

Atawodi led Uber through its expansion in Lagos and other West African cities while serving as general manager.

Under her leadership, in 2016, Nigeria’s federal capital Abuja, became Uber’s 400th location, marking a major  milestone for Uber in Africa.

Commenting on her new role at Netflix, Ebi Atawodi said,

“Anyone who knows me knows that I’m obsessed with Netflix-the culture, the product, the effect it has had on the art of storytelling.”

She also stated, I’m delighted to join Netflix as Director of Payments, EMEA and can’t wait to do the best job of my life.

In 2016, Netflix was released in Africa. Approximately 66.7 million Netflix subscribers are projected to be from the EMEA region.

In the last quarter of 2020, amid the global pandemic, Netflix gained 8.5 million new subscribers.

Netflix ended 2020 with more than 200 million subscribers paying.
