Moshesh Partners, a South African investment company, has received an undisclosed sum of funding for its Renewable Energy and Clean Infrastructure Fund.

Moshesh Partners’ co-founder and chief executive officer, Sifiso Shongwe, explains that their target is achievable given the firm’s track record of attracting investments.

“Our investment team has a clear renewable energy track record, having invested and deployed over R5 billion in renewable energy projects.

This involves raising and deploying capital through equity, mezzanine, and debt through solar PV, wind, CSP, plastic to fuels, and open-cycle gas turbine plants totaling 2,507 MW.”

The Moshesh Partners Renewable Energy & Clean Infrastructure Fund I, which launched in 2020, was Moshesh Partners’ first private equity fund.

The fund expects equity returns of 16-18 percent from its IC-approved investments by the end of the second quarter of 2021. In addition, to raise returns, the fund would use debt and equity funding.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, the previous fund reportedly focused on renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure.
