AfriLabs, an African hub network, has teamed up with the Office of Global Partnerships (E/GP) of the US Department of State to tackle the climate issue while promoting entrepreneurship in Africa.
Through its community-focused approach, AfriLabs, which was founded in 2011, empowers and supports innovation hubs all throughout Africa, while the US Department of State is the main foreign affairs department of the US government and is tasked with fostering a peaceful and prosperous global community.
One such relationship has now been reached with AfriLabs as part of the Office of Global Partnerships’ efforts to build public-private partnerships to address global challenges and advance sustainable development.
The Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurs (CCE) program, which focuses on fostering startups and entrepreneurs pushing climate solutions in underdeveloped countries, is supported by the collaboration between the two organizations.
In order to link climate entrepreneurs with resources and specific opportunities, both organizations will work together on a number of programs, including as the US Climate Ops and Partnership Opportunity Delegations (PODs). Additionally, BridgeUSA and the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) will support deserving climate entrepreneurs.
Anna Ekeledo, executive director of AfriLabs, said, “We are excited to join forces with the US Department of State in our shared mission to empower entrepreneurs and drive sustainable change, this partnership will create opportunities for climate-focused startups in our hub community across Africa to access expertise, capital, and global markets.”
Engagement, expertise, capital, and deployment are the four pillars on which the collaboration will be built.
The goal of the partnership is to have a major effect on climate change by encouraging cooperation, disseminating information, securing financial backing, and implementing effective responses to the problem.
