For the fifth edition of Africa’s Business Heroes program, 50 people from 20 countries have been chosen as finalists.
Every year, the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Philanthropy host Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Prize Competition to find ten exceptional businesses across the continent who are dedicated to improving their communities through their work.
The “Top 50 heroes” have been chosen from among the over 27,000 entrepreneurs who applied from all 54 African nations for the 2023 edition.
They come from 20 different nations, representing 10 different industries, have 38% female entrepreneurs, and highlight some of the most significant companies functioning on the continent.
These top 10 finalists will contend for a portion of a grant fund worth US$1.5 million. ABH will honor a total of 100 African businesspeople during a ten-year period.
These 50 finalists will be gradually reduced to a final 10, who will take the stage at the Grand Finale later this year to pitch their companies to a jury of accomplished businesspeople.
Along the way to the finals, competitors will have access to a network of global business innovators, leaders, and experts, as well as investors, accelerators, and multidisciplinary boot camps and training sessions to help them advance their ventures.
