The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN )has directed all financial institutions in Nigeria to close all cryptocurrency-related accounts.

According the a letter issued by CBN on Friday, the regulator prohibited the facilitation of crypto-currency payments in the country by all financial institutions.
According to the letter financial institutions have been directed to automatically close all accounts transacting in cryptocurrency.
“In addition to previous regulatory directives on the subject, the Bank wishes to remind regulated institutions that it is prohibited to deal in cryptocurrencies or to facilitate payments for cryptocurrencies,”
