Telecoming and Evina have announced the introduction of the DCB Index to assess market maturity in various regions.

Direct carrier billing (DCB) is the easiest and most appropriate payment technology for the emerging mobile economy.

Evina and Telecoming, two European technology companies, have formed a global alliance to promote DCB as the safest and most suitable payment method in the new mobile economy, especially in the fight against fraud.

The agreement is a major setback for mobile fraud, which cost Africa over USD 4 billion last year.

For millions of unbanked Africans, DCB is the best payment technology because of its unrivaled scale and convenience. Evina and Telecoming, both of which have operations in 15 African, Middle Eastern, and European countries, have reached an agreement that makes mobile-based transactions even safer.

Since 2008, Telecoming has been the leading expert in DCB, and Evina is the industry standard in the fight against digital fraud. Both organizations are combining their resources to help grow the industry and improve mobile payment protection through this partnership.

“Direct carrier billing has been growing in the modern digital economy,” says Telecoming COO Roberto Monge.

It’s a technology with huge potential that supports everybody in the mobile world.

We hope to place DCB at the forefront of the payments industry as a result of this partnership, and to reaffirm our commitment to the creation of an open, safe, and stable mobile economy.”

“The potential of DCB is largely underestimated by mobile operators and other industry players,” says Evina CEO David Lotfi.

This is mostly due to the fact that DCB is actually suffering from fraud. We hope to maintain DCB’s development by maintaining the mobile payment ecosystem and assisting all players in this ecosystem to thrive.”

The DCBMaster service, which enables users to assess their fraud risk as well as their business and regulations awareness, is part of the alliance’s goal to educate on the vast potential of direct carrier billing.

The alliance will also enable the first global DCB indicator to be published. Based on the study of four indicators: Fraud prevention, Innovation, Penetration in the Digital Industry, and Growth Potential, this DCB Index will determine the maturity of the DCB market in various regions.
