Ford unveiled the F-150 Lightning an electric version of its most popular pickup truck at an event in Michigan, stating that it will be available next year.
The vehicle is one of three Ford EV debuts, the Ford F-150 Lightning follows the launch of the all-electric Mustang Mach-E and the E-Transit, a configurable all-electric cargo van aimed at commercial customers.
The Ford F-150 Lightning is a five-passenger SuperCrew cab with a 5.5-foot bed, with 563 horsepower and a driving range of approximately 300 miles on a single charge.
President Biden visited Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan, EV plant the day before the Lightning was officially unveiled, and detailed his $174 billion investment in EVs and EV infrastructure.
In addition, Biden’s plan includes $100 billion in incentives for consumers to buy EVs, as well as $15 billion to build half a million charging stations over the next nine years.
The Ford F-150 Lightning starts at $41,669.
The others are the popular XLT (starting at $54,669), Lariat (starting price forthcoming), and Platinum (approximately $90,000).
Ford is now accepting Lightning reservations, with a $100 deposit required to secure a spot on the waiting list.
