Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, said on Twitter that other electric vehicles would be able to use the company’s global network of chargers later this year.
For years, Musk has talked about either sharing or opening up the technology underpinning his Tesla Superchargers to other EVs.
Musk stated that he would be willing to open up the designs in order to create a standard that could be used across industries.
As they hurry new electric vehicle entrants to market, other carmakers have formed agreements or invested in startups for network development.
Due to the company’s exclusive charging facilities on the road, Tesla previously touted its automobiles as having a significant edge over other manufacturers of battery electric vehicles.
Tesla Superchargers can be found across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates and Israel.
We created our own connector, as there was no standard back then & Tesla was only maker of long range electric cars.
It’s one fairly slim connector for both low & high power charging.
That said, we’re making our Supercharger network open to other EVs later this year.
