MEST and the Mastercard Foundation have announced the selection of 14 Ghanaian startups for the MEST Express Accelerator training program for 2021

MEST, in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, has announced the launch of the Startup Development program, which will assist young entrepreneurs in developing, launching, and scaling software-enabled businesses in Ghana.

The program, which will be run under the Pre-MEST umbrella, will provide free entrepreneurship and startup creation training in response to the country’s rising demand for software entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial skills, as well as the opportunity for participants to launch tech-enabled startups that solve local problems.

The Pre-MEST program, in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation and Young Africa Works, is looking for young people in Ghana’s Ho, Kumasi, Bolga, and Takoradi who are passionate about software entrepreneurship and want to start their own businesses to join its first-ever cohort in Startup Development.

Participants in this cohort will have the opportunity to go from business concept to business venture over the course of 12 weeks by learning the necessary business, communication, and technology skills required to become software entrepreneurs and launch a successful early-stage tech company.

Throughout the curriculum, participants will be assigned a mentor and will attend seminars and sessions aimed at improving employability through soft skills training.

The tuition-free 12-week in-person program includes full-time commitment for the duration of the course. Upon completion, successful graduates will gain certification and the ability to start tech-enabled companies.

Workshops will be combined with hands-on projects built through a series of subject-focused sprints in the Pre-MEST Startup Development cohort curriculum.

The learners learn specific usable skills in technology and business while being led in a bootcamp format.

The program will take place from May 17th to August 6th, 2021.

The deadline for applications is April 30th, 2021.

Those interested in applying can do so here.
