On the 6th and 7th of April, the African Development Bank held the first virtual business opportunities seminar (BOS) of 2021.
The business opportunities seminar serve as a one-stop shop for firms, civil contractors, vendors, consultants, and suppliers from the Bank Group’s regional and non-regional members who want to supply products and services to projects or the Bank.
Delegates were briefed about the Bank’s strategy for promoting economic development, as well as its rules and procedures for programme, procurement, and ongoing operations, which were held virtually as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Climate change, infrastructure, cities and economic development, industries and trade, finance and SMEs, agriculture, health, human resources, youth, and skills development were all addressed during the sessions.
“The Bank’s 2021 Business Opportunities Seminar was an outstanding learning opportunity and an open door to remotely engage with various experts and gain insights into best practices and directions for conducting successful business approaches inside the Bank,” said David Andrés Rojas Meja, Senior Business Development Specialist at Catalonia Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.
Approximately 2,500 delegates from 55 countries have attended the seminars over the years, with an average of 75 percent coming from non-regional member countries and 90 percent from the private sector.
The Bank hopes that the seminars would increase interest in Bank-financed projects and increase competition, resulting in higher-quality offerings that provide the best value for money to its regional member countries.
