Apple unveiled updates to its third-generation AirPods, new M-series MacBook Pro laptops, a new color palette for its HomePod Mini, and more during its October product event.
The following are some of the important announcements made at the Apple event:
MacBook Pro:
Apple has unveiled new MacBook Pro laptops that feature the company’s new M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, which are said to be 70% way more efficient than the previous M1 chip.
The Pro is available in two sizes. Thinner bezels and better displays with a higher refresh rate are featured on the 16-inch and 14-inch models, respectively. Longer-lasting batteries and a high-resolution front-facing camera capable of recording 1080p video are among the other enhancements.
The Pro does not have Apple’s Touch Bar, but it does have a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro costs $1,999, while the 16-inch MacBook Pro costs $2,499
CHIPS:
Apple unveiled two new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, which are larger and quicker than the company’s earlier M1 chips. The chips will help Apple boost video processing while also improving the battery life of its devices.
AIRPODS:
MagSafe charging cases will be included with the AirPods and AirPods Pro, allowing users to charge their earbud cases with magnetic wireless chargers.
AirPods 3 will cost $179 and will be available for pre-order starting today, while AirPods 2 will cost $129. AirPods Pro will stay $249, while AirPods Max, the company’s over-the-ear headphones, will cost $549.
HomePod Mini:
Apple didn’t make any significant changes to the popular $99 (£89, AU$149) HomePod Mini from last year, but it did provide colorful new aesthetic options. Apple incorporated “bold” and “fun” hues to its selection, much like it did with the revamped M1 iMacs earlier this year, delivering a “pop of color and personality.” Blue, yellow, and orange join space gray and white as new colors.
Apple Music Voice:
Apple is attempting to compete with Amazon’s $4 per month single-device music service by introducing Apple Music Voice. This $5-per-month subscription program is “exclusively for Siri.” It’s similar to Apple Music, but it’s only available through Siri. To compete better with Amazon and Spotify, Apple also introduced “hundreds” of new “mood and activity playlists.”
