Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator action plan was launched by Egypt’s Ministry of International Cooperation.

In conjunction with the National Council for Women, the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the private sector.

The ministry of International Cooperation said in a statement that the accelerator would fix existing gender gap problems.

While also reshaping potential gender parities.

Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, explained how the accelerator intends to minimize Covid-19’s negative effects.

The latest campaign comes as the state makes a concerted effort to close the gender gap.

As it prepares to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8.

Egypt will be the first country in the MENA region to launch this form of accelerator.

As part of a public-private partnership sponsored by the World Economic Forum during the launch.

It is a central pillar of NCW’s structure for the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030, according to Maya Morsy, which was approved by the president in 2017.

She said that women’s economic inclusion would boost the country’s GDP.

What exactly does the Action Plan entail?

Women’s financial literacy is improved through training and awareness programs that encourage them to open bank accounts.
Egypt is also working to create a database of women working in the informal sector by issuing them with ID cards, which will enable them to access new economic opportunities.

Both the government and the private sector must work together to equip women in the digital sphere.

Which has proved to be critical during the pandemic.

“Women should have access to new technology.

“We are here to encourage and assist in making this initiative open.

And practical in order to close the gender gap,” said Gitanjali Chaturvedi of the World Economic Forum.

“The private sector has the capacity and flexibility to make a substantial contribution to closing the gender gap.

Also, Travco Group Vice Chairman Karim El Chiaty said, “We are committed to implementing the action points in the accelerators action plan with all stakeholders to advance women’s economic empowerment.”

The “Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator” also aims to provide women with skills, experience, and scholarship opportunities in technology-based fields such as information technology, STEM, and artificial intelligence by designing programs that will allow them to enter these fields.
