Mondia Pay and M-Pesa have joined forces to provide Tanzanians with easy access to Mondia’s top portfolio of online content via the Vodacom Tanzania PLC digital services network.

Africa is undergoing a fintech boom, with digitalisation reaching a tipping point in several countries as connection and device access expand and COVID-19 pressures drive more customers online.

According to the GSMA, Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for two-thirds of all global mobile-money transactions.

M-Pesa, Africa’s most successful mobile money service and the region’s largest fintech platform, has partnered with Mondia, Africa’s biggest provider of online digital entertainment.

Over 7 million Vodacom Tanzania consumers currently use Value Added Services (VAS) and digital services, and can utilize their airtime balances via SMS and USSD to subscribe to Mondia digital services like as PlayInc., MyMuze, Vodacom Premier League, and many other news and entertainment services.

Users now have a safe, secure, and convenient payment method that connects them to the world’s top content, from sports, movies, music, and games, thanks to the Mondia Pay & M-Pesa payment option.

The collaboration demonstrates the potential for growth for creative fintech and content collaboration, as well as prospects for Mondia’s premium partners and merchants to reach new markets and income prospects.

“Innovative partnerships that provide attractive and convenient consumer products will drive the future of fintech. We are really proud of our efforts to enable clients throughout Tanzania to benefit from the integration of M-Pesa as an extra payment option in Mondia Pay. We also welcome the ongoing initiatives to move toward cashless society, which have gained substantial ground in the last year,” stated Simon Rahmann, CEO of Mondia Pay.

“This new M-Pesa payment option, provided by Mondia, is a crucial component of our digitisation drive and provides accessibility for our consumers to the Mondia digital services offering,” said Nguvu Kamando, Director for Digital Services at Vodacom Tanzania. The usage of M-Pesa, a leading mobile banking service available to over 13 million subscribers in Tanzania and supported by a strong agent network across the nation, will provide our customers with greater flexibility and convenience of payment.”
