Visa Inc. the payments technology corporation, has reiterated its commitment to expanding digital payments in Ethiopia by collaborating closely with the financial ecosystem to bring the benefits of digital transactions and money movement to Ethiopian customers, retailers, financial institutions, and government partners.
The business announced a number of partnerships during its inaugural Ethiopian Visa Payments Forum, which marked the one-year anniversary of its Addis Ababa office launch.
The event brought together key players in the digital payments industry to discuss ways to develop Ethiopia’s emerging payment ecosystem.
Visa has spent the last year forming and expanding alliances and agreements that will further drive the adoption of digital payments.
Ethiopian Airlines, Kifiya FinTech, Bank of Abyssinia, Cooperative Bank, Dashen Bank/Moneta (Amole) Technologies, BelCash Technologies, and Oromia International Bank are among the partners.

In addition to partnerships, Visa pointed out two previously announced initiatives: STEMPower, which aims to accelerate financial inclusion and job creation in Ethiopia, and Visa Everywhere, which aims to promote the growth of creative fintechs.
