Buguard, an offensive security, and dark web surveillance company based in Egypt, announced that it has acquired $500,000 in seed funding to expand its staff and concentrate on product, sales, and channel affiliations.

A15, the MENA venture capital firm known as one of the most well-known financiers of early-stage firms in the region, led the investment round, which also included participation from angel investors.

Buguard has been self-funded since its 2021 launch, and this financing represents its first outside investment.

Youssef Mohamed founded Buguard in 2021. Senior offensive security engineers and highly adept security researchers make up its consulting team.

The start-up provides offensive security services like threat intelligence, red teaming, phishing simulation, compromise assessment, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessment.

Buguard has provided services to several of Egypt’s top companies since it began operating, including Paymob, Fawry, EFG-Hermes, Halan, Lucky, Thndr, MaxAB, Eksab, and Rabbit Mart, among others.

Buguard is excited to announce the official launch of Dark Atlas, its new SaaS product for dark web surveillance and account takeover prevention, in addition to its existing offensive security services.

Cybercriminals frequently utilize the dark web, a portion of the internet that is hidden, to spread malware that can record user names, passwords, and payment card information.

Such attacks may have a considerable negative effect, leading to monetary loss, harm to one’s reputation, and loss of stakeholder trust.

The founder and CTO of Buguard, Youssef Mohamed, stated:  “We are delighted to announce our fundraising, and I thank A15 for its great support. The world of dark web cyber threats is very real, dynamic, and growing. Any company can be a victim and one must be prepared. Our team at Buguard is hand-picked and includes some of the world’s leading security researchers and engineers, coupled with a subscription-based, SaaS product – Dark Atlas – that goes broader and deeper than existing alternative solutions.”

With clients in Saudi Arabia, the United States, France, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, Buguard has amassed a substantial international clientele.
