Clickatell, a South African company that has grown to be a global leader in chat commerce, has raised US$91 million in a Series C round of funding to expedite product development and extend its foothold United States.
Businesses around the world use Clickatell’s chat commerce platform to connect and communicate with customers around the clock, no matter where they are.
Arrowroot Capital led the round, which also included Kennedy Lewis Investment Management, Endeavor Global, and Harvest.
With over 10,000 customers and offices in the United States, Canada, South Africa, and Nigeria, Clickatell’s low/no-code, feature-rich platform lies at the confluence of communications and commerce.
A total of over 200 roles have already been set aside with a particular emphasis on increasing the company’s capacity in Africa over the next few months.
“Clickatell was the first to introduce chat banking in 2019, bringing banking services via chat channels.” “Our triumphs would not have been possible without the trust and participation of our customers, which include some of Africa’s largest and most successful businesses,” said Pieter de Villiers, co-founder and CEO of Clickatell.
Clickatell will use the Series C funding to accelerate the development of its service, expand its footprint in the United States, and scale its sales and marketing operations, which has seen double-digit profitable growth for several years.
The additional funds will also enable the company to dramatically expand its engineering capabilities.
