The Swiss Confederation’s State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) has provided strategic funding to eWAKA, a Kenyan startup working to improve sustainable mobility.
Through the local production and marketing of eWAKA’s iconic electric bike, the Shujaa, the SECO Start-up Fund has provided a $540,000 loan to support eWAKA’s 2023 ambitions to accelerate a growth strategy focused on offering innovative and sustainable mobility technologies in Africa.
In 2023, eWAKA will be ready to expand to other regions of Kenya and East Africa thanks to its growth strategy, which was built on a number of pilot projects, including a Shujaa market introduction.
Celeste Vogel, co-founder, chief executive officer, and general counsel of eWAKA, commented on the company’s 2023 growth strategy, saying: “eWAKA’s unique value add offering is the completeness of the ecosystem we offer in the domain of last-mile transportation.
“To further enhance our product line, eWAKA undertook a number of pilot projects with target client segments. Understanding localized limits and variables is essential for successfully deploying micro-mobility models and solutions.
The eWAKA Shujaa app was developed with the sole purpose of facilitating delivery services.
eWAKA Kickscooters are designed for sharing and are made from high-quality, durable materials.
Live data is gathered for fleet owners to enhance remote management, vehicle monitoring, service histories, and other safety controls with eWAKA’s fleet management platform.
eWAKA motorcycles are designed for last-mile delivery as well as metropolitan and country commuting. The motorcycle, its battery-swapping ecology, and the conversion kits for internal combustion engine motorcycles have all undergone extensive testing.
An important part of eWAKA’s expansion strategy involves securing new funding opportunities for mobile merchants that provide delivery services.
