GoMetro, a South African fleet management startup, has completed a GBP9 million (US$11.5 million) Series A funding round to enable it to digitize heavy-duty commercial transport operations and further develop its platform in its major regions.
Zenobē, a new investor, led the GBP9 million (US$11.5 million) Series A funding, including substantial participation from FutureGrowth Asset Managers.
GoMetro had already secured a US$1 million seed extension round in May 2022. Current backers including Greg Fury, 4 Decades Capital, Hlayisani Capital, Tritech Global, Kalon Venture Partners, and ESquared Ventures continued their investment in the Series A round.
Launched in 2014 by Justin Coetzee, GoMetro is a business-to-business software as a service (SaaS) fleet management firm. It offers a top-notch electrification management platform to bus and truck operators, regardless of the OEM. This makes it a leader in decarbonization in an industry that is notoriously difficult to tackle.
By laying the groundwork for the quick creation of mobility apps, the solution enhances the operations of hundreds of fleets globally.
“Embracing data-driven decision-making systems that empower operators to better manage fleet utilization, optimize resources, reduce risk, and enhance customer satisfaction can be a real competitive edge that catapults transport companies beyond the reach of their competitors,” Coetzee said.
To electrify buses and trucks, GoMetro’s Bridge, a platform in the cloud, controls the data streams that are necessary for this process. To help fleet owners make the switch to electric vehicles, GoMetro Bridge gives them access to a plethora of telematics-driven tools that analyze their data to determine how well their fleet would fit into various EV adoption scenarios.
With this new funding, GoMetro can advance its goal of digitizing heavy-duty commercial transport operations and expanding its cutting-edge fleet management platform in its four primary markets: the UK, the EU, the USA, and South Africa.
Additionally, with this funding, GoMetro will be able to upgrade its software platform and provide fleet operators with better tools for supervising and improving their electric vehicle fleets.
The list of devices that can be used with GoMetro Bridge will be extended, and new functionality will be added to meet the changing demands of the industry.
